Mother Teresa once said, “I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.”
How many of you enjoy walking on the beach? I’m from Rhode Island, the “Ocean State” and I love to walk on the beach. It is so relaxing…a time to meditate on God’s goodness and talk to Him while I look for heart shaped rocks or catch a sunset, or skip stones on the water.
Whenever I skip a stone, I count the number of times it glances off the surface. One time, when I counted nine skips, God made me aware of His plan for me. As the mother of nine children, I was called to communicate God’s love to them and encourage them in their relationship with Christ. Just like the stone glancing off the water creates ripples, my children would go out into the world and each of them would have a sphere of influence.
By the grace of God, He has multiplied my efforts. So far, six of them have left my home, each one communicating God’s love to others. They have been on mission trips, led Bible Studies on college campus, four of them are married and all of them are ministering God’s love to their churches and communities. Even the children that are still at home are communicating God’s love to their peers and community by volunteering at the library, monthly visits to the local nursing home, reciting poetry at a Women’s Retreat, creating blogs, webpages and YouTube Channels.
I agree with Mother Teresa, “I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters and create many ripples.”
To whom are you called to communicate God’s love?
