Olivia is the first RI HOPE student to complete the Young Speakers Guild training series and be inducted into the Young Speakers Guild. She is the 36th student from the Northeast Region of the United States. Dozens of family and friends came to hear Olivia deliver her Guild Induction Speech on June 22, 2018 at Faith Fellowship Community Church in West Greenwich, Rhode Island. More people watched her via the live stream on the internet.
Olivia brought her audience on a delightful journey through her "Fellowship of the Pin" using the iconic imagery of the shire and Middle Earth for her slides.
"Four Hobbits, two Men, a Dwarf, an Elf, and a Wizard embarked on a journey, with the fate of Middle-earth resting in their hands. They were on a Quest to destroy the One Ring, for if this ring fell into the hands of the enemy… all would be lost.
Okay, wait, wait, wait… that’s not the story I’m going to tell you today - I’m going to tell you about my Quest. It wasn’t a Quest to destroy a ring, (rather, it was a Quest to find a pin) but it has many parallels to the world of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings."
Because of her amazing accomplishment, she is now the RI HOPE Chapter Mentor and a member of the Area Student Leadership Team. We look forward to the all the extraordinary and creative ideas Olivia will bring to the RI HOPE Leadership Team.
