I’m a part of chapter RI Hope. I’ve been involved in the Institute for Cultural Communicators for about six years now. At last year’s International Convention in Nashville, I had the privilege of serving as a Recommended Staff Assistant.
It was my first time, and it was an absolutely amazing experience! As a recommended staff assistant we sat down with adult leaders for labs, worked behind the scenes, and led different activities.
At the International Convention, I learned many team building skills and was involved in activities that helped me realize the importance of unity in a team. Most importantly, I learned to demonstrate servant leadership in everything I did. Always being ready to lend a helping hand and looking for ways to serve others.
It helped remind me to take the attention off myself. To push myself aside and focus on supporting and encouraging others instead. In the end, it was a very fun and life-changing experience I’ll never forget!
