This idea really connects with me. I see it in my own life; browsing headlines, scrolling social media, distracted from face to face engagement by my phone.
I have the privilege of working with youth in the Institute for Cultural Communicators (ICC). New skills are being developed in my own life and in the lives of my teenage daughters.
Together we are learning how to be fully present, to engage with community, to have the courage to have crucial conversations and voice our own ideas even when others might disagree or have different ideas.
Together we are learning how to communicate in a winsome way so even when we disagree there is connection and respect.
Because of the growth and development we have gained from our involvement in ICC, we have connected with other groups and communities that have benefit from our learning and improved communication skills too.
