I began public speaking with RI HOPE when I was 14. I felt immediately welcomed by all of the students in the class and grew to enjoy our chapter meetings very much. We had amazing times as we fellowshipped together, and I made long lasting friendships with amazing people.
Entering into my junior year of high school, I was not able to make the commitment to public speaking anymore due to the other courses I was taking. I thought that my sophomore year of high school had been my last year of taking public speaking. However, I was wrong!
This year, my senior year of high school, I decided to come back, not only with the goal of finishing Phase 2 of the Young Speakers Guild, but also because I really missed the community aspect that it had brought to my life.
I am so happy I came back as being with everyone again, seeing old friends and making new ones has been a joy and a true blessing. The friendships I have made and the good memories I have made with them will be forever a part of my life and something that I will never forget.
Taking public speaking has not only benefited me in gaining public speaking and leadership skills but has also benefited me in giving me community and fellowship among fellow Christians. Being in this community has been a wonderful experience and I am so grateful for all of the friendships and memories I have made.
