RI HOPE Students Learn to Lead by Serving Others in the Community

Updated: Dec 19, 2019

On Wednesday, December 6, 2017 RI HOPE visited Brookdale Centre of New England to present a Christmas Variety Show that was organized by homeschool freshman, Olivia Dailey, the RI HOPE Chapter Ambassador. The program started with the four youngest students (ages 4-8) telling Christmas jokes. Then Miss Dailey lead a "Choral" reading of Luke Chapter 2. The program also included Carol singing and Christmas themed piano music. The Young Speakers Guild Phase 2 and 3 students made formal introductions for each piano player. To finish it all off, two of the new Young Speakers Guild Phase 1 students, Micah and Rachel Everette recited "The Gift of the Magi" and "Twas the Night Before Christmas" respectively. The residents and staff loved the young speakers and invited RI HOPE to come back again soon. Some members of the RI HOPE Chapter will be presenting a Christmas Variety show at Alpine Nursing Home on Monday, December 18th.

RI HOPE is a chapter of the Institute for Cultural Communicators (ICC) whose volunteers are committed to training next generation leaders to influence today's culture. Because one of ICC’s core values is serving the community, the visit to Brookdale last week was an integral part of that training. In order for Miss Dailey to serve the Brookdale Community, she had to use many leadership skills to arrange the performance to meet the needs of all the participants and residents. Recently, Cindy Clarkin, Chapter Sponsor of RI HOPE commented to Jen Snyder of CICUSA (one of the RI HOPE Fund Donors), “What a great group of students we have this year. I have seen a great deal of growth and transformation among students and parents alike. I am especially excited that three students and two parents are joining me at the IGNITE Winter Advance Leadership Training in January at Cedine Ministries in Spring City, Tennessee.”

Other local sponsors in addition to CICUSA, include Browning and Associates, Dr. Eric George DMD, Dr. Charles Cronin, PTL Equipment, Coventry West Greenwich Elks Lodge 2285, Pawtuxet Valley Rotary Club, Stamp Farms, Faith Fellowship Community Church and the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship. Any business interested in investing in the lives of these future leaders are invited to give a tax-deductible donation on the RI HOPE web page (http://rhodeislandhope01.wixsite.com/home).#
