85% of the jobs today’s school-age children
will hold in their lifetime haven’t been created yet.
So what are we preparing them for?
And how are we equipping them for what we can’t see?
Last year at our iCON event, Dana Hagood - an Executive Director at USAA - spoke to parents and students about the most vital skills needed for students to be successful in the workplace.
A lot of iCON guests were surprised to learn that these vital skills were what are usually referred to as "soft skills."
Soft skills sound less important - like they’re not the real skills. When I need to make a decision and I’m waiting for others to weigh in, I may say, “I have a soft leaning in this or that direction.” It’s not firm. It’s not complete. Hard skills sound so much more important.
Yet, as we will see from the research, nothing could be further from the truth. “Soft skills” have become the most sought after skills in the workplace.
We've recently made Mr. Hagood's iCON discussion on these vital skills available on our Vimeo, and I thought you might like to see it.
At ICC, we've researched the top five vital skills for success and have spent decades developing ways to coach students (and parents) to excel at them.
If you want to dive deeper into these five vital skills and how to implement them into your student's education, there's still time to grab an iCON digital pass and join us online next week! We'd love to have you.
iCON is the International Convention for the Institute for Cultural Communicators.
This year iCON will be offer globally in real time using the technology of ZOOM.
