LYDIA - RI HOPE is where I learned to speak with confidence

Updated: Jun 5, 2020

Humble Beginnings of RI HOPE - Lydia is far right with 8 high school students - October 2013

Eight years ago I prayed that God would allow me to ignite a passion in young people to speak for Christ to their generation. Now looking back and reflecting I see that He did indeed answer that prayer with the invitation from Jan Lonngren to start an ICC Chapter in 2013.

As I reflect on the past seven years of my involvement in RI HOPE, I thought of all the many teens and younger students who have experienced the community. My involvement has definitely been an answer to my prayers.  With Andrew moving on to new leadership opportunities, it has come time for me to pass the baton to a new Chapter Sponsor.

As I transition, I would like to make a collection of testimonies from RI HOPE/ICC Alumni and post them on a page of the RI HOPE website.

Here is the first one from my 21 year old daughter Lydia.

She was part of the inaugural membership in 2013 and stayed active in chapter for 3 years.

During that time she completed Phase 1 and 2 of the Young Speakers Guild Training series.

Because of her love for videography, Lydia became the RI HOPE Media Team Leader where she produces several Beginning Public Speaking promotional videos.

"Being a part of the R.I. H.O.P.E Chapter helped me to consider my audience while writing my speeches, to learn that "people don't care how much you know until they know who much you care", and to speak with confidence."

Lydia definitely has used her communication skills at CCRI when she created a testimony video for the Bible Study Club with her friends.

Today she uses these skills to create weekly training video

for beginner riders at the Woodland BMX track.
