Thank you for coming out to support the RI HOPE Student Leaders.
Over 50 people came to hear 6 teens tell their ordinary to "Extraordinary" stories. Guests included family, friends, church leaders and business leaders.
Olivia and David performed "Nadia the Willful" as a Young Speaker Guild Phase 3 Cultural Storytelling (CS) selection.
Ben performed the heartwarming cultural story of "Emanuel's Dream" which was selected for an Award of Excellence at the IGNITE International Tournament in January. Here are a few lines from Ben's ordinary to "Extraordinary" story: "I came to realize that other scouts had the ability to teach skill instruction, better than I by focusing on that one responsibility. The scout who took over the responsibility did a great job to everyone’s benefit."
Christy shared her ordinary to extraordinary story: "God put me into a community of people who made me know that it’s OK to be broken, so broken that you know that Jesus is the only One that can heal your broken heart. They helped me feel like I could share my real feelings without being shamed or judged. I used to think I had to bottle up my feelings, but now I know that it’s OK to be real with the people you love and be free."
David spoke of his ordinary to "Extraordinary" journey with the Institute for Cultural Communicators. "I used to think that my plan was sufficient, but now I know that God will guide me in ways that I can’t possibly imagine."
Speeches were followed by a Question and Answer time.
There were seven RI HOPE Alumni and four current members who came out to cheer on the Student Leaders.
Special thanks for the Wright's Farm for providing a beautiful venue, exceptional service, and delicious food.
