For the last two weeks, our staff and Student Ambassadors have been resetting our internal and actual clocks - first to West African time, then to East Asia time - to bring real-time, online training to our global community through Communicators for Christ conferences.
Our first ever conference in Africa was nothing short of remarkable, miraculous, and transformational. I promise to share more with you about how these incredible young students and their teachers were empowered by our training (and inspired US again and again). But today I want to celebrate that about 100 students and staff from Ghana and The Gambia joined us, most of them children who had been orphaned or sold and had no idea that they could have a voice. What a gift to see our mission of empowering young people to change the world bring such hope and life!
Because of our cultural intelligence training to prepare to visit a new continent, we were able to better serve attendees from five countries at our East Asia conference the following week! We had grown so much in working with groups where English was a second language, so we used chat and live transcription, and we hosted breakout groups in various heart languages.
It has been a truly extraordinary month for our global community, and I’m still basking in the transformation we witnessed. I can’t wait to implement some of our learnings at our last Communicators for Christ conference in U.S. Eastern time (UTC-4). I hope you can join us there!
